Patrick Ehlen

Loop AI Labs
Chief Scientist

Dr. Patrick Ehlen is Chief Scientist at Loop AI Labs. Sparked by reading 2001: A Space Odyssey in 1977, he began a pursuit of AI on his father’s DEC PDP-11. Fifteen years later, he trained his first neural network after reading the seminal Parallel Distributed Processing volumes.

Patrick earned a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the New School for Social Research in 2005, and interned at Dragon Systems and AT&T Labs-Research. He then landed at the Center for the Study of Language and Information at Stanford University, collaborating with SRI on the DARPA CALO project. A few years later, his old CALO colleague Bart Peintner approached him about joining Loop AI Labs to help advance the state-of- the-art using new deep learning techniques.
